Many experts agree that diet accounts for almost 90% of people succeeding in bodybuilding. Thus, the importance of good diet should not be understated.
• Do not make the mistake of eliminating carbohydrates from your diet. Some athletes think that eliminating carbohydrates helps but honestly it creates problems like loss of energy and fatigue. So always make sure that carbohydrates are part of the diet.
• Using a high calorie diet for about 5 days a week and two days of a low calorie diet. Your muscle gain and fat loss will be much faster. However, it is important to know that calorie intake depends on the type of exercise you do. Active and aggressive exercises require a higher intake of calories.

• Similarly, you need to eliminate refined sugars from your diet plan. Drinks such as sodas contain a number of sugars that can destroy its plan. Sweets can also thwart the plan to achieve a nice body.

There are many bodybuilders who are in the business for a long time and ha?e their own rules when it comes to eating the proper food. They are not dieticians and nutritionists but many of them have managed to build and maintain their body throughout these years. Here are some principles for healthy body building diet:

  • Drink as much water as you can. This is probably the best advice that you can get. Water is essential for body functions. It flushes out nasty substances from the body. The first thing you should do when you wake up is to drink a glass of water. Unsweetened tea is also good drink. You can also use a dark coffee from time to time but stay away from soft drinks, fruit juices and alcohol.
  • Avoid white bread, pasta, cereal, potatoes, rice and pasta. You can eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want. Lettuce is really a good source of vitamins.
  • Get your protein from eggs, chicken, fish, turkey and beef. But do not overdo with beef. You can also get protein from beans and legumes but the protein you get from these vegetables is not as complete as meat protein.

A healthy bodybuilding diet needs not to be bland. Just make sure to watch your portion size and choose the right foods when it comes to carbohydrates and proteins.
